Very early as an artist, I produced many surreal and abstract pieces focused on social and emotional complexities found in every day life. I focused on work that would get the most out of me,  as well as work that connected most with people. Many pieces use color, line, and texture to portray the emotion and the electricity of context. In many cases, I find myself seeing a particular style best for a particular subject, causing me to produce in a variety of styles best suited for the context. Some of my styles include influences of abstract, surreal, impressionstic, non-objective, as well as realism. My art has grown to include a more diverse array of subjects including animals, rural living, and floral pieces.

One of Josh's featured works this week is this piece entitled 'Spirit Swimming' (right). This piece is an abstract piece tapping in to the uncontrollable emotions of the subconsious. It explores cognitive conflict, and glimpses of explaination.

About Josh

I was born in Houston, Texas, but primarily lived most of my live in between Santa Fe, New Mexico  and all around the Bay Area of California. Growing up between Santa Fe and San Francisco, I was very influenced by both the talent and market for art at a very young age.  I've been exposed to many styles of art from the contemporary art scene of California, to the traditional southwestern and Native American Art of New Mexico. Its given me a broad range of subjects, styles, and mediums to expience. The portrayals of the subject matter, emotion, and culture has taught me the importance of seeing beyond the bindings of a particular style,  and the encouragement of finding an equilibrium between the best style for both the artist and the subject matter.
